Board Members Present:  Ronald Blinebry, Chairperson

David Rohr, Tom Valentine, Joe Onyon

Paul Pierce – excused

Village Bd. Members present: Mayor Scott Burto, Deputy Mayor Scott Sullivan, and Trustee Gerald Caldwell

Others Present: James Juczak – Woodhenge Self-Reliance Campus, Kathy Amyot – RACOG

 

Chairman Blinebry called the Planning meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.

Mayor Burto called the Village Bd meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.

 

Minutes for the Planning Board regular meeting on January 6, 2010 were reviewed. On motion by D. Rohr with the correction of the last sentence to read “D. Rohr motions to adjourn” and seconded by J. Onyon minutes were approved and carried unanimously.

 

R. Blinebry opens the meeting with the introduction of Mr. James Juczak, and invites him to begin his presentation on personal residential alternative energy sources.

 

Mr. Juczak begins a power point presentation covering the pros and cons of residential and community scale solar, wind and other local renewable energy systems. Definitions were given for residential alternative sources, system costs, the return on energy invested, safety and aesthetic considerations, issues that municipalities will have to consider, resident opposition, short review of what different systems are available to residents and municipalities and that grants are available through NYSERDA with currently 40-70 percent funding and that there are Federal and State tax incentives available as well.

Mr. Juczak demonstrates four different style light bulbs and the amount of watts each light uses.

 

Mayor Burto adjourns the village board meeting at 7:50 p.m.

 

The board in general thanks Mr. Juczak for coming. No closing comments from the board members.

 

R. Blinebry reminds the planning members of the Local Government Conference at JCC on 4/1/2010 and if anyone hasn’t contacted the Village Clerk for reservations to do so.

Next regular meeting will be held Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at 6:30 p.m.

 

D.Rohr motions to adjourn,  second by J. Onyon. The meeting is closed at 7:55 p.m.
